The 2014-15 Basketball season for Michigan state's Women's team is officially over. A challenging and tumultuous season is now behind Suzy Merchant and her team according to this article at freep.com. The Spartans have battled injuries and attrition throughout the season. Merchant even found herself borrowing players from MSU's Volleyball team, just to field enough players to practice and play.

"I am incredibly proud of what this year's team accomplished under such challenging circumstances." Coach Merchant said in a release. "While we could have participated in postseason play, after talking with our senior student-athletes (and our entire team), it truly is in our student-athletes' best interest right now to rest, recover and then we can begin to prepare for the future as the spring unfolds."

With the team's record not good enough to play in the Women's NCAA Tournament, and the lack of healthy personnel, the thought of turning down a WNIT bid had been bounced around the media circles. The news became official this afternoon. MSU finishes the season with a run to the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals, and winning 5 of their final 7 games.
