The hardest hit area locally appears to be in Eaton County.

Officials are reporting numerous slide-offs and accidents on I-96 near Lansing Road. Traffic in both directions of the interstate is being affected.  Problem areas involving accidents are also being reported on I-69 there.

Those who don't have to travel today are being advised to stay off roadways.  Those who have to make the commute, are being advised to use extra caution in doing so.

The snow began to fall Monday afternoon and is being blamed for a multi-vehicle pile-up in Van Buren County last night that sent a at least 6 people to the hospital.   The incident on I-94 in Paw Paw Township, southwest of Grand Rapids, is said to have involved more than 40 vehicles--many of them semi-tractor trailers.

A preliminary investigation found the driver of one of the semis lost control causing a chain-reaction crash.  They say others involved were driving too fast for conditions making them unable to stop in time to avoid a collision.
