The position is clear when it comes to the management of game animals in the state. Way back in 1996 the Michigan Wildlife Management Referendum, Proposal G (1996) passed with 69% of Michigan voters saying yes. In effect it put scientists in charge of Michigan’s wildlife and insulating us from repeated efforts by anti hunting groups like the Humane Society of the United States. At least that was the idea. Anti hunters are however an insidious bunch. Like Neil Young wrote, Rust Never Sleeps and neither does ignorance it seems.

Mlive and political writers like Tim Skubick have been borderline hysterical on the subject of hunting wolves in the state. It seems they want to pretend Michigan voters and Proposal G don’t matter. Well our votes mattered and wolf hunting is a matter to be resolved by the state and not the voters. That referendum already happened so move along.
