Michigan State Football Players Heading to Houston to Aid Hurricane Victims

After the Spartans play the Broncos on Saturday a handful of players on the roster are planning on going to Houston to donate their time and energy in assisting those that are affected by hurricane Harvey.

According to a report from the Detroit News, upwards of 20 players have signed up to take the trip to Texas during Michigan State's bye week which comes between the Western Michigan game this week and Notre Dame on the 23rd. It is unknown if all of the players who signed will be able to go down to Texas due to budget and time constraints.

MSU's outreach is part of the "Lansing Strong for Texas" flood relief campaign set up by current Lansing mayor Virg Bernero.

The flood relief effort is also helped by Dean Transportation, Meijer, the Red Cross and other local establishments.

Michigan State currently has three Houston natives on the roster. Sophomore offensive lineman Tyler Higby, sophomore wide receiver Darrell Stewart and wide receivers coach Terrence Samuel.
