Michigan Senate Votes Against Breed-Specific Dog Laws

According to a report from WILX.com, lawmakers in the Michigan Senate have had enough of local municipalities setting laws that discriminate against certain breeds of dogs.

A bill now awaits a vote in the House of Representatives that would ban local governments from banning certain breeds of dogs that some local leaders currently consider aggressive. Lawmakers voted 22-13 to ban breed specific regulations.

According to the report, there are approximately 30 local governments in Michigan that have laws written that prevent residents from owning certain dog breeds, including, but not limited to , pit bulls, Rottweilers, Cane Corsos, and German Shepherds.
