Michigan's overall exports to foreign countries took about a 3% jump last year. When everything from vehicles to manufactured goods to fruits and vegetables are added up the state's total dollar amount in value of items sold outside of the U.S. came to more than $59 billion. This is not only beneficial to the state financially but it's also evident the export business helps provide jobs for quite a few. For example according to the U.S. Commerce Department nearly 5,000 are needed to produce and process every one billion dollars in exports.
