Michigan Ice Breakers Have a Big Job Ahead
Terrible weather and its after effects are now having an impact on ferry services running to and from Mackinac Island. After the long grueling past several months so much ice has built up boats that haul passengers are unable to make it through.
Ice breaking ships (similar to the one pictured here) are set to get to work this week in an attempt to clear an adequate pathway. The over abundance of ice is such a serious concern before travel schedules are finalized in the coming weeks those who run the shuttle services want to see how successful the ice breaking efforts is.
