Officials in Meridian Township, just east of Lansing, are looking for those responsible for a smash and grab Monday afternoon that netted the thiefs thousands of dollars in jewelry. 

It happened at the Becky Beauchine Kulka Diamonds and Fine Jewelry Store in the 35-hundred block of Meridian Crossing.  The 2 suspects entered the store shortly before 2 o'clock, used a hammer to smash the display cases, then took off with a number of items through a back door.   No gun was seen and fortunately no one was hurt.

It's unknown which direction the men headed in but officials believe they took off in what is believed to be a blue or black Ford Fusion with the Michigan license plate number C-L-B-5-7-1-2.

The suspects are described as two black males between the ages of 20 and 30, one was wearing  ayellow stocking cap, a blue and white sleeved letterman jacket and khaki pants.  The other was dressed in a blue hoodie and blue jeans.  Both were wearing gloves.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the the wanted vehicle is being asked to contact authorities.
