Mlive.com reports it was first reported shortly before 8:30 Sunday night the the Reed Hoppes Towing & Equipment facility in the 26-hundred block of East Grand River Avenue in Portland.

Fifrefighters battling the blaze were hindered by the extreme cold.  Last night's lows were in the single digits.  Location of the facility also made for additional difficulty requiring assistance from some 10 other fire departments.

While some vehicles were lost in the blaze, there were no injuries reported.  Mlive.com says the daughter of the owner of the facility, Joyce Hoppes, says she was thankful that the fire broke out late Sunday when there were no workers inside.

Parts of the business structure is expected to continue to operate while the investigation continues into a cause for the fire.
