Much has been made of the chip-on-the-shoulder mentality of Michigan State football. That is how the Spartans have turned slights--both perceived and real--into motivational fuel.

It looks like MSU may have found its latest dose, courtesy of Sports Illustrated.

That is the cover of SI's upcoming College Football Playoff preview edition. While MSU and Connor Cook are prominently featured, as well as a cover story about the Spartans' program, you may notice one little issue.

"How Mike Dantonio Rebuilt The Spartans."

Yep. The publication that has been the apogee of sports journalism for more than 60 years--the one by and against which all others are measured and judged--couldn't even get the name of Michigan State's coach correct on its cover.

And just in case you're wondering if this is a clever ruse from someone in the Twitterverse skilled in Photoshop, SI's Michael Rosenberg, who wrote the cover story, has confirmed the mistake:

This, of course, isn't the first time something like this has happened.

Michigan State fans won't soon forgot when--amid a deluge of questions about Jim Harbaugh and Michigan--ESPN butchered Dantonio's name over the summer when the Spartans' head coach appeared on several ESPN programs one day.

Personally, I doubt the coaches and players get too riled up about this kind of stuff.
