The City of Lansing has released a bulletin to residents through its website, urging some city residents to evacuate their homes in flood prone neighborhoods.

Levels of the Grand River, Red Cedar River, and Sycamore Creek are expected to rise through Friday. Many area streets are already closed due to water over the road. Now, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor and city emergency management officials are recommending that residents in the following neighborhoods evacuate their homes due to flood waters:

Urbandale (near Kalamazoo/US-127)

Sycamore Park (near Pennsylvania/Mount Hope)

Knollwood Willow (near Willow/M.L.K./North Grand River)

Baker (along Baker between Cedar and Pennsylvania)

Cherry Hill (near Kalamazoo/Cherry)

Riverside (all areas along the river banks)

Riverpoint (along Elm Street near REO Town)

The American Red Cross will open up a shelter center at Letts Community Center at 12:00 PM Thursday.
