The Kalamazoo City Commission approved a change to its existing panhandling ordinance yesterday.

In a 6-to-1 vote, the commission added the "right to be left alone" to areas enclosed by fencing or gates, such as sidewalk cafes and anyone sitting at tables or benches located in public places.

Also, you should know that the Kalamazoo ordinance is not just limited to downtown.

Is this a good addition? Or do you believe it harms people that many believe should be taken care of?

Should there be any ordinance against panhandling?
