Charles Pickett Jr. the man who stands accused of running over a pack of 9 bicyclists leaving five dead on June 7th was apparently high on drugs. That is the inference being given at least by the Kalamazoo County prosecutor Jeff Getting.

The prosecutor’s office has padded the number of charges the 50 year old Michigan man is facing by adding 5 counts of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and four counts of operating while intoxicated causing injury for the other four riders who survived being hit by Pickett’s Chevy pickup truck.

Getting’s office alleges Pickett had at least one controlled substance in his blood when he roared through the bikes earlier this month. He hit them so hard the full size pickup truck appears to be totaled.

Pickett faces up to life in prison on the charges.
