Is Hillary In Danger of Coakley Factor

Hillary Clinton is running into trouble early in polling in important early high stakes states Iowa and New Hampshire. New numbers show Clinton trailing a host of Republicans seeking to be the next President of the United States including Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul to name just a couple.

This is not the way it is supposed to be. I mean this time they are Ready for Hillary right? At least that’s what we are led to believe. However it seems the voters aren’t quite ready to coronate Clinton. The last time she was supposed to be President a political neophyte named Barack Obama only a couple years removed from the state legislature beat the Clinton Machine- handily.

This time Bernie Sanders has joined the race and a few others are expected to follow. It’s beginning to appear that maybe the Democrats aren’t so sure that Mrs. Clinton is the horse to bet on.

I am beginning to wonder if Clinton has the Coakley curse. Martha Coakley was supposed to waltz into the United States Senate to fell the seat left behind when the Liberal Lion, Teddy Kennedy died. Kennedy had been in that position for decades and the Republicans were running a guy named Scott Brown, who actually used a pickup truck to drive to work. Can you imagine?

Oddly though the voters of Massachusetts delivered one of the biggest upsets in American political history and Brown took 52% of the vote and Coakley was sent packing in an embarrassing defeat while Mr. Brown went to Washington.

That was in 2010. By 2014 Coakley had dusted off that shocking loss and was ready to ride again. This time she set her sights on the Governor’s mansion. Afterall, Coakley was a big name in the Bay State and her unfortunate setback was behind her. She was already picking curtains and paint when voters sent her home again- snake bitten and shocked for the second time! Charlie Baker is now the Governor of Massachusetts. A Republican is now running one of the most liberal states in America.

So a word to the wise; before you place all of your money on Hillary to win the White House ask yourself if she can have a catastrophic collapse for the second time. You bet she can, just ask Martha.
