Ireland just went into a six-week national lockdown after a new record rise in COVID-19 cases.

According to WILX, the country had surpassed 50,000 new cases. A level five lockdown will start at midnight on October 21st, 2020, and will last till December 1st.

“If each of us does what is asked of us for a period of just six weeks, we will suppress this virus and we will emerge from these restrictions on the 1st December,” Prime Minister Micheál Martin said.

This will be the second time Ireland has gone into a national lockdown this year.
