Earlier this week, reports surfaced about destroyed pieces of evidence that were contaminated at the Ingham County Sheriff's Office. Now, according to WLNS.com, the county prosecutor's office has asked Michigan State Police to investigate the situation. According to the story, Ingham County Prosecutor Gretchen Whitmer has requested an independent audit of all evidence housed by the sheriff's office.

On Wednesday, Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wrigglesworth told the media that several, dozens, maybe hundreds, of pieces of evidence were destroyed and disposed of after being contaminated by a major sewage leak in 2012.
