WILX.com reports that the Ingham County Sheriff's Department retrieved human remains out of the Grand River Friday evening.

A group of people were pulling debris out of the river under the Columbia Road bridge in Aurelius Township Friday when they noticed a human bone. Deputies determined there was the likelihood of more remains in the river. The Capital Area Dive Team recovered a container in the river filled with more human remains.

Now, officials are working to determine the identity of the remains. They also are investigating how long the body parts have been submerged.
