A hearing is set for today in Dearborn Heights to determine if there is enough evidence to send a homeowner to trial for killing a woman who came to his home in the middle of the night.

19 year old Renisha McBride was shot in the wee hours of November 2nd by Theodore Wafer.  The 54 year old admits he pulled the trigger but says he felt threatened and fired his shotgun through the door.  McBride apparently had gone to the home looking for help after crashing her car.  Tests showed she was legally drunk at the time.

If Judge David Turfe rules there is enough evidence, Wafer will head to trial on charges of second degree murder.

Wafer is white while McBride was black.  That's prompting some to believe the racially charged nature of this killing is the reason charges of murder are being filed.
