Governor Signs Bills Designed to Protect our Credit

This afternoon Governor Snyder signed legislation backers say will really help crack down on crooks who get a hold of our credit and debit card data. It creates criminal penalties relating to the use of "skimmer" devices used to access our personal information. Criminals hook these "skimmers" up to credit and debit card machines and ATM's. They are actually able to record a PIN and read info on the card's magnetic strip. For those found guilty of a first offense they could go to prison

for five years.
