Due to the extreme Islamic terrorist attacks in Paris the Detroit Free Press is reporting that Gov. Snyder is suspending his efforts to accept Syrian refugees in Michigan.

Governor Snyder released a statement Sunday stating:

"Given the terrible situation in Paris, I've directed that we put on hold our efforts to accept new refugees until the U.S. Department of Homeland Security completes a full review of security clearances and procedures. Michigan is a welcoming state and we are proud of our rich history of immigration, but our first priority is protecting the safety of our residents."

I believe this is a prudent decision by our Governor, the Obama administration does not have a very good process in place to determine if the refugees he wants to accept in the U.S. are terrorist or not.

There have been many news agencies that are reporting that a Syrian passport was found at the scene of one of the attacks and it matches a refugee who legitimately traveled through Greece.

Last September Governor Snyder informed all of us the he was working with the federal government to determine a process for accepting refugees from the ongoing crisis in Syria and the Middle East into Michigan.

Now the question I have for all of you is should the United States suspend taking any refugees from any country until we get a handle on the situation.  Part of getting a handle would be implementing a process which can assure the American people that the data would be there to detect who might be an Islamic terrorist and would is not.
