The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says this is something that had to be done. In Cheboygan County in Aloha State Park hundreds of dead ash trees have been cut down. The reason: they were infested with Emerald Ash Borer insects. There was serious concern if this action had not been taken the deadly disease would have spread to healthy trees and eventually many more would have ended up dying.

Next the stumps will be taken out and other trees will be planted.
