City officials say they are putting out a notice that they're in need of Elections Inspectors to work November 4th.   The salary is $120 for a full day at the polls and $60 for a half day.  Those chosen must attend a training session which is mandated by election law in Michigan.

Most of those to be selected will be Republicans and Democrats, although the state recognizes six political parties.   Precincts are required to have a balanced number representing the two main parties.

State elections officials have also relaxed the requirements to make that percentage.  You no longer have to work in the county in which you are a registered voter.  You can now work in any precinct in Michigan.

An online application can be found on the City of East Lansing's website at www.cityofeastlansing.com/elections.   You can also apply in person at the Clerk's office.

Those with questions on requirements, can call (517) 319-6914

The polls open on election day at 7 in the morning and will remain open until 8 at night.  The final day to register to vote was Monday, October 6th.
