The Lansing State Journal is reporting today that the body of 18 year-old Conner Berthold of Eaton Township was found Wednesday night inside of the burned-out remains of what was an attached garage to a home in the 2100 block of Ackley Road.

Investigators say a knife, believed to have been used to slash the tires of several vehicles in the area, was found nearby.

The article indicates that Berthold, who was named "outstanding science student" in 2012, suffered from a bipolar mental disorder.

Police believe the teen is also the one who set three fires earlier in the evening Wednesday at sites near Charlotte.  A pole barn and a garage were destroyed, along with the garage in which Berthold's body was found.

There is evidence that the teen broke a window to gain access to the garage.  There is no word yet on how he died but an autopsy has been conducted.
