One of those killed in a terrorist attack on a restaurant in Afghanistan was from Michigan.

Basra Hassan was a Somali-American working there as a nutritionist.  She was one of 21 people killed in the Taliban attack in Kabul.

Numerous media sources are identifying Hassan as a 59 year old woman from Hamtramck near Detroit who was on an aid mission in Kabu.  Hassan, who had a master's degree from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti and joined UNICEF in 2005, was one of three Americans killed.

The Taliban claimed responsibility shortly after the attack on Friday   The say it was in retaliation against the Afghan military operations against their forces earlier in the week in Parwan province
