It's the much-anticipated Black Friday where sales are said to bring prospective shoppers out to stand in line for days.  This year, however, some stores have upped the ante and opened even earlier.  Retailers started opening their doors on Thanksgiving.  This is the first year that Macy's had participated in that event.  Kmart is planning a 41-hour 'non-stop' sale that also began on Thanksgiving day.  While bargain shoppers were pleased they could get to their shopping early, some are criticizing the businesses for taking away the real meaning of Thanksgiving by not allowing employees to spend time with their families.  Store owners, though, say the Christmas shopping period is so crucial to making their bottom line, they're willing to take the heat.  Most shoppers say they're planning to spend a bit more this year than last.
