WLNS.com reports that a bill has been passed by the Michigan Senate designed to keep bicyclists safer on Michigan roadways. The bill would require drivers to pass bicyclists on roadways with a five foot buffer zone while passing on the cyclist's left side, and would require more time spent on bicycle and pedestrian safety in drivers education classes in the state.

The bill reportedly passed the senate with overwhelming support, 34-2. It now moves on to the House for vote.
