An Important “Yes” Vote Today For Detroit’s Arena Project
The Detroit Red Wings are one step closer to getting a new arena because today the Detroit City Council gave its approval for the project to proceed. A part of the plan allows the city to transfer public land for the project for one dollar. The new multi-use arena would would be built near where Comerica Park is now. It would seat about 18,000 and if all goes as planned it would be ready for the 2016-2017 N.H.L. season. Supporters are saying the economic spin-off would be considerable. The entire arena project would cover forty-five blocks. It's designed to include office along with residential buildings and retail stores along with additional entertainment venues.
