Rising water temperatures are one of the reasons cited for the appearance of a giant Great White Shark in Michigan waters according to World News Daily. The website also explains that the giant predator could be the reason behind numerous disappearances over the past few years. What the paper fails to explain is that it is all a hoax. Snopes.com even had to get involved after the story was shared thousands of times on Facebook, to explain it just wasn’t so.

I realize people will believe just about anything but come on people, everyone knows sharks cannot survive in fresh water. Well at least I thought everyone knew that anyway.

I do however give World News Daily some compliments for the fine effort involved to move this spoof all the way through the St. Lawrence Seaway and into peoples social media sites.

Here is part of the satirical report that got lots of folks hook line and well you know:

John O’Keefe, a Canadian tourist, captured the 3,000-pound beast while fishing for sturgeon in Michigan Lake.

“We reeled in the beast for a good 4-5 hours before we finally shot it and wounded it to the head” explains the Toronto resident on vacation.

“Luckily, I had my rifle in hand, or else this prize fish would’ve never been caught” claims his friend, a long-time resident of Chicago, Allan Brooks.

“I’d heard of the Lake Michigan monster, but never did I expect to catch it myself,” claims the 63-year-old tourist on a weekend-long vacation in the area.

The one thing it made me think about was maybe the guy was right about taking a rifle along on my next fishing trip. I mean what if Moby Dick appears?

Folks, do you really think it’s a good idea to keep giving so many people marijuana and telling them it’s ok? Let’s get serious.
