A North Branch Township 11 year-old girl was home alone on Friday afternoon when a man entered her home.

The girl ran to hide inside a bathroom closet, she took a shotgun with her.  When the suspect, 53, opened the door she pointed the gun at him.  This action scared the intruder and he took off. Authorities arrested him in Imlay City along with a 31-year-old acquaintance.

Lapeer County sheriff's Detective Sgt. Jason Parks said the girl assisted police in finding the man.  He said she was a "very brave girl" who "held her composure."

James Wasson of Detroit was arraigned on Sunday.  He is facing home invasion, burglary and firearms charges in Lapeer County District Court. Wasson's companion that was also picked up, Rhonda Stewart, was arraigned on home invasion.
