The 11 year old stepdaughter of a 25 year war veteran was told she could not wear a t-shirt to school that honored the men and women who died in the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

Tim Foster was told his stepdaughter could not wear the shirt that his family had been wearing each year on 9/11 since the attacks happened. He said they wear the shirt "to honor what had happened on 9/11 and all the people that have perished and the lives that were changed on that day."

The girl attends the Orangevale school system where uniforms are required.  Trent Allen, a spokesman for the district said that free dress days are the only days students can choose to not wear their uniforms, September 11 was not a free dress day.
